New Year, New Nails - Polish Days!

We made it to 2013, and what better way to kick off a brand new year than by trying a brand new nail trend? According to Julep, this year's trend will be double accent nails. Although it still looks a little weird to me, I thought I'd give it a try, and I think I like the symmetry of it! I also wanted to try a new color, one I don't usually go to. I used Sally Hansen Commander in Chic, a beautiful taupe that I have gone for before, and then KleanColors Retro Green, a green so dark it almost looks black. I don't usually go for green or go this dark, so I decided to go for it! To spice it up a little more, I decided to go with a snakeskin pattern stamp on Shany's 213 plate, one I've literally never used before. I chose China Glaze Passion so it would really stand out. I really love the look as a whole, and it's really rewarding to go out on a limb and try something new! I look forward to a whole year to tackle bigger projects!

Hard to tell, but SUPER dark green!

Please take time to check out the beautiful nail art my fellow Polish Days bloggers have created!

  7. Yeah I mean I thought I'd give it a try and see how I feel about it. After I finished the 2 accent nails I have to be honest: I kind of wanted to go back and just paint all my nails that green and do the stamping. teehehee

  8. I've wanted to do reptile nails for a while. I love your gold scales on such a dark green background (it definitely looked black to me) and I think the mani looks great with the taupe nails framing it.

  9. I like the snakeskin design and I think I need to try this two accent nails trend (although I haven't heard of it before, but I am not too familiar with Julep either).

  10. I literally just saw it in an email. Julep is a nail polish & nail care product company. They sell some great stuff and you can really find good deals, especially if you're part of their Maven club. Julep.com has everything you need to know! I think the 2 accent nail thing will take time to catch on, for sure!

  13. So when I did the index/middle fingers with embossing powder on mine, I was unknowingly following a new trend? (Did doing the thumb in a third color mean I was or wasn't following this trend? ;)

Trend or no trend, I love your color choices - the dark green with the metallic stamping really does a great job of looking like snake skin, and it's PRETTY! I want that taupe, too. :)
